UN EPISODE INTERNATIONAL - CONCERT IN PARIS 2ND DEC; "DEVIL ON THE STAIRS" FRENCH RELEASE; TWO DOLLAR BASH AT SXSW 2009; NEW REVIEWS.


Mark will be playing on Tuesday Dec 2nd, 8pm, at L'International, 5-7 rue Moret, 75011 Paris, as part of a gig entitled "Un Episode International". He will be teaming up with his old friend Rusty Miller, from the San Francisco band Jackpot (described by the New York Times as "California's greatest unknown band" and by French magazine Les Inrockuptibles as "quite simply the best rock band in the world") Rusty and Mark will be joined by some of the leading artists of the Paris music scene, including Barbara Carlotti (who was nominated for the prestigious Prix Constantin a couple of weeks ago), Jean-Pierre Petit, Benjamin Edraffo, Armelle Pioline, Olaf Hund and JP Nataf, as well as Seanin Hawthornthwaite from the Berlin band Trubadore.
Easy Action will be releasing "The Devil on the Stairs" in France in January, through French distributor Socadisc, and a US release is planned for the spring. Mark's band Two Dollar Bash has just been invited for a remarkable third successive year to perform a showcase at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas, one of the most important industry conferences and live music events in America.
"The Devil on the Stairs" has just received two reviews with 4 stars out of 5 in magazines in Britain, Maverick and Bucketfull of Brains. We'll post the texts here as soon as we have them.


TWO DOLLAR BASH album "Lost River" German Release Party at FOLKTOWN, Grüner Salon, Volksbühne, Berlin, September 19th.


Two Dollar Bash's third album, "Lost River", will be released in Germany on September 19th, with a release party at FOLKTOWN, a new event showcasing the talents of Berlin's roots/folk/Americana scene along with Trailhead and The Cowboy Killers. For more info, check out the Folktown myspace page

GERMAN RELEASE DEVIL ON THE STAIRS + TWO DOLLAR BASH UK TOUR

"The Devil on the Stairs" will be released in Germany on May 26th, distributed by Rough Trade. There will be a release party on Wed June 4th in Max und Moritz, Oranienstr. 162, Berlin Kreuzberg, featuring Mark, percussionist Chris Hughes and several other guests, and support from Robert "Fearless Bob" Angst.

The album has been receiving airplay in the UK, including several plays on BBC Radio Scotland's Iain Anderson show.

For the rest of June, Mark will be on tour in the UK playing with Two Dollar Bash, who are releasing their third album, "Lost River" in the UK on June 9th through Proper Distribution. The dates are as follows:

Over the last few months Mark has been playing lead guitar and recording an album with Berlin rock'n'roll band Strip me Naked. The final parts of the recording and the mixing of the CD will be done over the summer by Dugald Jayes, who recorded "The Devil on the Stairs". Strip me Naked will be playing a one-off London show during the day on July 6th at 93 Feet East in Brick Lane, along with fellow Berliners Mamasweed and London psychedelic rock band Instant Flight

I -TUNES EP AND ALBUM RELEASE PARTY

In advance of the release of "The Devil on the Stairs", Troubadour Records has released an i-Tunes EP consisting of "Don't Want to Hear You Laugh" from the studio part of the album, "Taking a Taxi" from the live disc, and two bonus tracks not on the album, "Departure Lounge Blues", a new song recorded in San Francisco" in January with Rusty Miller and James Finch Jr of the great Californian band Jackpot, and "Lonesome Whistle", a solo version of a song which also features on the third Two Dollar Bash album, "Lost River", due for release in June.

There will be a CD release party on Monday March 31st, at the 12 Bar Club, Denmark St, London, starting at 7.30pm. Mark will be playing with drummer and percussionist Chris Hughes, who also played on the album. Also playing on the same bill will be Jason McNiff, who is celebrating the UK release of his album "In my Time" on Snowstorm Records (which will also be released in Germany by Cannery Row Records in May), and Phil Shoenfelt and Pavel Cingl, whose album "Live in the House of Sin" is being released on Exupery Records

Legendary punk label BOMP RECORDS has just released a tribute album to the label's founder, Greg Shaw, called "He put the Bomp in the Bomp" which includes a version of Iggy Pop and James Williamson's song "Kill City", featuring Mark on guitar, along with Nikki Sudden - vocals

UK Album Release

As one of the first releases on their new folk offshoot, Troubadour Records, London-based label Easy Action are putting out a double album of Mark's material, comprising the Devil on the Stairs, plus "Taking a Taxi", from the first Two Dollar Bash album as a bonus track, and a live recording from a gig at the 12 Bar Club in London.

SXSW 2008

Two Dollar Bash have been invited for the second successive year to play a showcase at the prestigious SXSW festival and music industry conference in Austin, Texas, in March 2008. The band is just finishing work on their third album, "Lost River", which will be released on Cannery Row Records in 2008.

Philadelphia band Barleyjuice have recorded an adapted version of Mark's song "Tartan is the Colour" which is released on their album "6 Yanks"
